Here are some ideas for making the month of March special with a variety of "sweetheart moments." Have fun trying out these creative ideas and activities!
All Things Green
To celebrate St. Patrick's Day...have fun with the color green. I love to buy my kiddos a new outfit in the color green. I also make a breakfast with green food! Color the eggs with green food coloring, as well as a your glass of milk, and bowl of oatmeal or yogurt. What fun they will have eating so much green!
Happy St. Patrick's Day
It's time for find the little leprechaun. Kids have fun when the wake up on St. Patrick's Day and find a little mess made from the leprechaun (they love to get into mischief)! In the middle of the mess, children find a note from the leprechaun with a hint to where he is. Kiddos go on a scavenger hunt around the house looking for the leprechaun. At the end, they don't find him but a basket of goodies left by him!
Time for a Bug Hunt
Go to the dollar store and buy some bug nets and bug homes. Now let the kiddos run in the yard or at a park and find bugs! They will love being able to put ladybugs, butterflies, and rollie pollies in their little bug homes and watching them. You can even buy them an insect guide to read about the bugs they collect. Happy hunting!
I Wish I Were a Butterfly...
So many places are now starting to carry butterfly gardens. You can also order them online through www.insectlore.com. It's so much fun to receive the little caterpillars in the mail. Within a week or two they will get so big as they eat, and eat, and eat. Kids love to watch them crawl to the top and make their cocoons. Before too long, these caterpillars will become butterflies and it is such an exciting day to watch them hatch. Soon after, have a launching party where the butterflies are set free!
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss
Many children love the books and writings of Dr. Seuss. It's fun to celebrate his birthday on March 2nd with a book day! Gather any books in the house written by Dr. Seuss and celebrate with these. You can also make your own red and white striped hat or eat green eggs and ham in the morning for breakfast!
