Fun with Fabric: No-Sew Curtains!

I love decorating but unfortunately I have no sewing abilities whatsoever!  So, I wanted to let you in on a little secret...it involves the magic of a glue gun.  I truly believe that spray paint and glue guns can solve all the world's problems!!  Okay, so back to the magic of my glue gun.  My curtains needed a bit of fun and an update but getting out my sewing machine and figuring out what I am doing just takes too long.

So, this afternoon my kiddos went down for their nap and I made it my goal to get my curtain project done!  You might think that sounds a bit ambitous and it might have been...but I did it!  Within an hour, I had tranformed our family room windows!  Here's the "before" picture above.

I am a bit cheap and I like to get projects done very quickly.  So, off I flew to Walmart to browse their fabric aisles.  Yes, I could have gone somewhere a bit more "chic" but I am working on a budget here!  I found their Better Homes and Gardens line of fabric and became very happy with the floral/paisley design and a striped fabric that went perfectly!  Remember...it's fun to mix and match fabrics.  Don't be afraid to do that!  All in all, I got a few yards of each of these fabrics, some tassles, and a package of glue sticks for my favorite glue gun!

Naptime came and I spread out my goodies all over the floor.  I measured, I ironed, I glued, and I hung!  Believe me that this was not a project that requires perfection.  It is a fun project with some ironing of edges, gluing in spot, and adding some flair.  Take a look at "my work in progress" above!

After hanging the curtains back up...I was very happy with the results.  But most of all I was happy that this whole project was finished and cleaned up before the kiddos woke up from naptime!  I'll keep you updated on other places I used some of my leftover scraps of fabric!!Pin It

  5. Oh my gosh...I LOVE those. I would have never thought that could be done with a glue gun. Did you cut the red curtain first? I may have to copy:) They are beautiful!

  6. Love your curtains. :) They definitely do not look as if they were glue gunned on! I can sew a straight line, but lack the confidence to try stuff like this. Maybe I should just go for it. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting on my blog. :)
