Here are some fun ways to create some special "sweetheart moments" in July with your kiddos and family. Try them out and add a comment if you had fun making a memory!
July 4th Fun
Decorate the house in red, white, and blue. You know how kiddos love decorations! Start a fourth of July tradition...maybe a day at the pool, bbq at a park, or a festive dessert in red, white, and blue! Don't forget to get that special family photo while the kids are in beautiful colors!
Books on the Beach Day
Have a pretend day at the beach in your own backyard. Lay beach blankets in the grass and fill up that inflatable pool. Surprise your kiddos with some blow-up beach balls. On each color of the beach ball, use a sharpie marker and write something you love about each child. The beach balls usually have about 6 or 8 colors...so your child will have 6 to 8 special compliments to read from you! Let them know how much you love them! And don't forget to include some reading and lounging on this special day. Fill a picnic basket with some summer reading materials and join the kiddos outside for an afternoon of reading!
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Go to a local minor league game with the family. Buy lawn seats and pack some picnic food. The kiddos will love running around on the grass and watching the game. Don't forget some boxes of cracker jacks as you sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" as a family!
Sunglasses & Snapshots
Find a cute pair of sunglasses for the whole family and take a picture! What a fun summer photo that will be. And if you can, let the children use a digital camera or buy disposable ones for them to take more photos with. Have a day that focuses all on sunglasses and snapping photos!
Plan a luau party as big or as little as you like. You can turn this into a block party idea or just a few friends can join you. Visit a party store or look at www.orientaltrading.com for some great decorations and luau goodies for all of the fun. Get some grass skirts, a palm tree blow up pool, leighs, and even a limbo stick! Make some festive food with fruit on skewers and barbecue. Don't forget the Hawaiian music. Have fun with a game of limbo or some hula hooping as well.
I Scream for Icecream
July can be a hot month so plan an icecream day to cool off. Buy a few flavors of icecream, lots of yummy toppings, some syrups, and of course the whipped cream. Let the kids make their own icecream sundaes and enjoy them in the backyard. Let them get creative and make their own icecream masterpieces. This will be a day they will never forget!
